Allegations of Research Misconduct

Jurnal Surya Masyarakat (JSM) is committed to maintaining the integrity of scholarly publications and handling allegations of research or publication misconduct fairly, confidentially, and in accordance with the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

1. Types of Misconduct

Research and publication misconduct may include:

  1. Plagiarism, fabrication, or falsification of data and findings.

  2. Misrepresentation of community service activities, participants, documentation, or outcomes.

  3. Duplicate publication, citation manipulation, or inappropriate authorship.

  4. Manipulation of the peer-review or editorial process.

  5. Violations of research ethics, participant consent, confidentiality, or other publication ethics requirements.

2. Reporting Allegations

Authors, reviewers, readers, and other parties may report suspected misconduct to the Editor-in-Chief at jsm@unimus.ac.id.

Reports should identify the manuscript or published article, describe the alleged misconduct, and provide supporting evidence where available.

3. Investigation Procedure

The editorial team will:

  1. Assess the allegation and available evidence, including potential conflicts of interest.

  2. Request clarification or a response from the parties concerned.

  3. Examine relevant documents and, when necessary, consult independent experts or the appropriate institution.

  4. Determine appropriate editorial action based on the findings.

Allegations will be assessed impartially. An allegation alone does not establish misconduct.

4. Editorial Actions

Depending on the findings, JSM may request clarification or revision, reject a manuscript, or take appropriate post-publication action, including issuing a correction, expression of concern, or retraction.

Post-publication actions follow the journal's Correction, Retraction, and Withdrawal Policy.

5. Confidentiality and Accountability

JSM will maintain confidentiality throughout the assessment process, protect the rights of the parties involved, and manage conflicts of interest. Editorial decisions will be based on documented evidence and applicable publication ethics standards.
