Registration and login are required to submit items online and to check the status of current submissions.

 

Author Guidelines

  1. The contents of the articles submitted are the results of community service activities.

  2. Articles are written in Indonesian or English with a double column format, using Garamond font, size 12 points (except abstract: 10 points), single spacing, paper size A4, and the number of words is 2500 - 7000 words (excluding titles, abstract, and bibliography).

  3. Articles are submitted in .doc, .docx, or .rtf file formats, via online submission on the Jurnal Surya Masyarakat website.

  4. Detailed guides regarding the formal matters of the article can be seen in the template.

  5. Manuscript Originality and Similarity Screening

    All manuscripts submitted to Jurnal Surya Masyarakat (JSM) undergo official similarity screening conducted by the editorial team using Turnitin. The maximum overall similarity index is 20% during initial screening and 10% before final acceptance. Similarity from any individual source must not exceed 3%.

    Similarity checking follows the journal's exclusion protocol, including the exclusion of bibliographies, properly identified quotations, and matches shorter than eight words where supported by the software. Substantive matched sources must not be excluded solely to reduce the similarity score.

    Authors are encouraged to conduct independent similarity checks before submission but are not required to upload similarity reports. Official screening reports are maintained as confidential editorial records.

  6. Artificial Intelligence (AI) Use and Screening

    Authors must disclose whether Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies were used during manuscript preparation in the AI Use Statement section of the manuscript, as specified in the official JSM article template. If AI was used, the declaration must identify the tool, its purpose, and its contribution to manuscript preparation. AI technologies cannot be listed as authors or co-authors.

    The JSM editorial team conducts official AI writing detection where technically applicable. An AI detection score of 20% or higher will trigger additional editorial assessment rather than automatic manuscript rejection. AI detection results alone will not determine manuscript acceptance or rejection.

    Authors are encouraged to conduct independent AI screening but are not required to upload AI detection reports. Authors remain fully responsible for the originality, accuracy, and integrity of their manuscripts.

    All authors must comply with the journal's Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy.

 

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. I am willing to include my WhatsApp number in my profile metadata field. (Saya bersedia memasukkan nomor WhatsApp di isian metadata profil saya.)

  2. My article has never been published or is under review in any journal, proceedings or other. (Artikel saya tidak pernah diterbitkan ataupun sedang direview di jurnal, prosiding atau yang lainnya.)

  3. My article format is .doc or .docx or .rtf. (Format artikel saya adalah .doc atau .docx atau .rtf.)

  4. I am willing to bear any consequences if my article violates the provisions written in point 1. (Saya bersedia menanggung konsekuensi apapun jika artikel saya melanggar ketentuan yang tertulis pada poin 1.)

  5. I am willing to bear any consequences if my article violates the provisions written in point 1. (Jika artikel ini terbit, hak ciptanya artikel saya menjadi milik Jurnal.)

  6. My article is written according to the template. (Artikel saya ditulis sesuai dengan template.)

Author Responsibilities

Authors are responsible for ensuring that their manuscripts are original and do not infringe the intellectual property rights of others.

Authors must obtain appropriate permission for copyrighted material belonging to third parties when such material is incorporated into their manuscripts and permission is required.

Author Fees

This journal charges the following author fees.

Article Publication: 500000.00 (IDR)

If this paper is accepted for publication, you will be asked to pay an Article Publication Fee to cover publications costs. Since the next Volume 6 Number 2 edition, the Article Publication Fee is increased up to Rp. 500.000 rupiahs.

WAIVER POLICY

If you do not have funds to pay such fees, you will have an opportunity to waive each fee. We do not want fees to prevent the publication of worthy work.
