Journal History

Establishment and Early Years The Indonesian Journal of Dentistry (IJD) was established in 2021 by the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang. The journal was founded with a clear vision: to provide a reputable platform for academicians, practitioners, and researchers to disseminate high-quality clinical and experimental research in the field of dental sciences. The inaugural issue, Volume 1, Number 1, was officially published in February 2021.

Publication Consistency Since its inception, IJD has maintained a consistent publication schedule, releasing two issues annually in February and August. The journal employs a rigorous peer-review process to ensure the scientific integrity and relevance of every published article. Over the years, IJD has covered a broad spectrum of topics, including oral biology, conservative dentistry, prosthodontics, periodontics, oral surgery, and dental public health.

Accreditation and Recognition A significant milestone in the journal's history was achieved in 2024. The Indonesian Journal of Dentistry was officially accredited by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia. Based on Decree Number 177/E/KPT/2024, IJD is ranked as SINTA 4, a testament to its growing quality and compliance with national publication standards.

To ensure broad dissemination and global visibility of research, IJD has successfully expanded its indexing. Currently, the journal is indexed in highly reputable databases, including Google Scholar, Portal Garuda, Crossref, Dimensions, OpenAlex, BASE (Bielefeld Academic Search Engine), Scilit, and Scispace. This extensive indexing ensures that articles published in IJD are easily discoverable and accessible to the international scientific community.

Commitment to Open Access and Global Reach As an open-access journal, IJD is committed to the free exchange of knowledge. In its pursuit of broader international readership, the journal has increasingly encouraged submissions in English and adheres to global indexing standards. Today, IJD continues to evolve, striving to become a leading reference in dentistry not only in Indonesia but also in the wider Southeast Asian region.
