Author Guidelines
The manuscript texts must be written in English. Manuscripts will be first reviewed by the editorial board. The main text of a manuscript must be submitted as a Word document (.doc/.docx) or Rich Text Format (.rtf) file. Articles are written using A4 format (210 x 297 mm) with Times New Roman font size 12, consisting of 10–15 pages. The line spacing is 1.5, the text is written in justified style with moderate text margins (right-left: 2.5 cm; top-bottom: 2.5 cm). The manuscript must contain original work and potentially contribute to scientific advancement.
Manuscripts accepted by IJD include Original Research and Case Reports.
A. ORIGINAL RESEARCH
The manuscript should contain the following sections in this order:
- Title
Title of articles in English should describe the main content of manuscripts, be informative, concise, and not too wordy, without formulas (maximum 15 words). Written in Arial font, size 14, bold, capitalized each word, with justified alignment. - Abstract
Written briefly in English in a single paragraph of 150–200 words, containing the background, objectives, methods, results/outcome, conclusion of the study, and scientific contributions. - Keywords
Consisting of 3–5 words or phrases, arranged alphabetically. - Introduction
Explaining the background, problem statement, importance of research, and a brief literature review that relates directly to the research, ending with a paragraph stating the research objectives. A balance must be maintained between pure and applied aspects. It comprises 3–5 paragraphs without subheadings, clearly stating the background, problem, and primary purpose. The literature cited must be strictly consistent with the topic. - Research Methods
Describes the methodology used in the study in detail. Instruments, materials, and research procedures must be clearly stated to ensure reproducibility. Foundational references must be provided if adapting existing protocols. The statistical analysis method employed must be explicitly mentioned. Research involving human subjects, animal experimentation, or ethical considerations must include formal ethical approval from an authorized institution. - Research Findings
Presents the primary results and statistical analyses performed. Data should be concise and clear, presented using tables or graphs without unnecessary data repetition. Numbering of tables and figures follows Arabic numerals with single spacing. To preserve quality, high-resolution figures (JPEG format, minimum 300 dpi) and tables (DOC or XLS format) should also be provided. - Discussion
Interprets and evaluates the research findings by comparing them with current literature (preferably recent publications). Explains agreements or disagreements with existing references, new findings, study limitations, and recommendations for future research without repeating details already discussed in the Introduction. The discussion must be of equal or greater length than the Introduction. - Conclusion
Drawn based on research findings, addressing the research problem and objectives. Presented in a single concise paragraph without bullet points or numerical numbering, highlighting the study's contribution to science. - Declaration
- Authors' Contribution: Specify individual author contributions using CRediT taxonomy roles (Conceptualization, Methodology, Software, Validation, Formal Analysis, Investigation, Resources, Data Curation, Writing – Original Draft, Writing – Review & Editing, Visualization, Supervision, Project Administration, Funding Acquisition) using author initials.
- Conflict of Interest: Disclose any potential financial, personal, or professional conflicts of interest that might influence the research.
- Funding Statement: Detail all sources of financial support, including specific grant numbers and funding organizations.
- Ethics Approval and Consent to Participate: Provide the formal name of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) / Ethics Committee and the protocol/approval number for studies involving human subjects or animals, including participant consent procedures.
- Consent for Publication: Mandatory for studies, photographs, or imaging where patient identity might be discernible.
- Data Availability Statement: Clarify conditions under which datasets can be accessed, providing persistent identifiers (e.g., DOI, accession numbers) or repository links.
- Declaration of Generative AI in Scientific Writing: Disclose the use of generative AI tools in the preparation process (excluding standard grammar/reference-checking software).
- Acknowledgments: Acknowledge non-author contributors who provided intellectual, technical, or administrative support, confirming that all named individuals have given written permission.
- References
References must follow the Vancouver system format. The use of reference management software (e.g., Mendeley, Zotero, EndNote) is strongly recommended. Reference citations should comprise at least 80% primary sources (scientific journals/proceedings) and at most 20% secondary sources (textbooks) published within the last 10 years. References are formatted in Times New Roman, font size 10, single-spaced.
B. CASE REPORT
The manuscript should contain the following sections in this order:
- Title
Title of articles in English should describe the main content of manuscripts, be informative, concise, and not too wordy (maximum 15 words), without formulas. Written in Arial font, size 14, bold, capitalized each word, with justified alignment. - Abstract
Written briefly in English in a single paragraph of 150–200 words, containing the background, objectives, case presentation, management outcome, conclusion, and clinical relevance. - Keywords
Consisting of 3–5 words or phrases, arranged alphabetically. - Introduction
Comprises 3–5 paragraphs without subheadings. It should clearly present the background, explaining why this case is unique, rare, or clinically significant (e.g., diagnostic dilemma, novel therapeutic approach, or unusual pathology). The primary objective of the report must be stated at the end of the section, supported by relevant literature. - Case Report
Substitutes the Research Methods and Findings sections of original articles by offering a detailed chronological account of the case:- Patient demographics, chief complaints, and relevant medical/dental history.
- Clinical findings from extra-oral and intra-oral examinations.
- Diagnostic assessments: supporting examinations, differential diagnoses, and definitive diagnosis.
- Therapeutic interventions: step-by-step account of procedures, materials, and instruments used.
- Treatment outcomes and patient follow-up.
- A formal statement confirming that the patient provided informed consent for publication.
- Discussion
Analyzes case management by synthesizing clinical findings with existing literature. Interprets the rationale for the diagnosis and treatment plan, comparing outcomes with standard protocols or previous cases. Highlights the strengths and limitations of the approach. It must avoid repeating case details and be equal to or greater in length than the Introduction. - Conclusion
Summarizes primary clinical implications, learning points, and take-home messages that answer the objective outlined in the Introduction. - Declaration
- Authors' Contribution: Specify individual contributions based on CRediT roles using author initials.
- Conflict of Interest: Disclose any financial, personal, or professional conflicts of interest.
- Funding Statement: Detail all sources of financial support, grant numbers, or note if unfunded.
- Ethics Approval and Consent to Participate: Provide Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval details where applicable.
- Consent for Publication: Mandatory for case reports, clinical photographs, and imaging where patient identity could be discernible.
- Data Availability Statement: Provide data availability details or repository links if applicable.
- Declaration of Generative AI in Scientific Writing: Disclose any generative AI tools used in preparing the manuscript.
- Acknowledgments: Acknowledge non-author contributors who supported the work with confirmed consent.
