Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)
Effective for issues published from 2027 onward
This policy applies to manuscripts submitted to Jurnal Statistika Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang for publication in issues published from 2027 onward. It sets out the responsibilities of authors, editors, and reviewers when using generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools.
Authors
Authors must disclose the use of generative AI tools in preparing a manuscript. The disclosure must identify the tool and briefly describe how it was used. Authors should provide this information in the cover letter or in the designated submission form.
AI tools must not be listed as authors. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of the manuscript, including verifying any text, references, data, or other content generated or assisted by AI. If no generative AI tools were used, no disclosure is required.
Editors
Editors may use AI tools only for limited administrative or language-support purposes. Confidential manuscript content must not be entered into publicly accessible AI systems. AI tools must not make or determine editorial decisions. Editors remain responsible for the evaluation and decision on every manuscript.
Reviewers
Reviewers must not upload or enter submitted manuscripts, review materials, or confidential information into AI tools. Peer review must be conducted by the assigned reviewer, who remains responsible for the confidentiality and substance of the review.
Where authors should disclose AI use
This policy does not require authors to add a separate AI declaration section to the manuscript. Any required disclosure must be provided through the cover letter or the designated submission form.
