Abstract

This study explores William Wordsworth’s poem Tintern Abbey through the lens of ecocriticism. This poem describes nature not only as a beautiful landscape, but also as a means for spiritual reflection and inner growth. To begin the research, there is an introduction that explains the background, problems, objectives, methods, and scope of the research. Lawrence Buell uses his perspective on ecocriticism as the basis of his theory, which emphasizes how important literature is to raising awareness about man's relationship with nature, including moral and ethical aspects. A thorough analysis is made of important parts of Wordsworth's poems, which show Wordsworth's view of nature as a path to spiritual awareness and self-understanding. The result is that Tintern Abbey is still relevant today, especially in conversations about the environment and spirituality. This study enhances our understanding of Romanticism's relationship with nature and encourages further research on other literature that also addresses spiritual experiences through nature.

Keywords: William Wordsworth, ecocriticism, Tintern Abbey, romanticism, nature, spirituality, environmental awareness.
