Abstract


ABSTRACT

 

Background: One of the risk factors for developing ulcers on the feet of diabetes mellitus patients is the presence of maladaptive behavior, namely due to lack of compliance with foot care. . This type of research, known as correlational research, assesses the statistical relationship between diabetes mellitus management behavior and the incidence of diabetic ulcers. Method: Analytical Observational research design with case control design. The population in this study were all patients with type 2 DM patients at Roemani Hospital, Semarang City. Samples were taken from 62 subjects, divided into 31 case subjects and 31 control subjects according to the inclusion criteria By applying a sequential sampling technique, data was collected through questionnaires related to compliance with physical activity, diet, foot care, taking medication. Using the consecutive sample method, data was obtained through questionnaires about between diet and the incidence of diabetic ulcers showed a value of p=0.002 (<0.05 and OR 0.180. There was no association between physical activity (p=0.200 > 0.05) and there was no association between physical activity and physical activity adherence to taking medication p= 0.155 > 0.05 on incidence of diabetic ulcers. Conclusion: Diabetes mellitus patients who do not comply with a good diet have a 5.8 likely to develop diabetic ulcers compared to patients with diabetes mellitus who are less compliant with foot care 0.2 times the chance of developing diabetic ulcers compared to patients who adhere to foot care.
