Academic Stress and Bedtime Procrastination Affect of Premenstrual Syndrome Among Nursing Students

Abstract
Symptoms of premenstrual syndrome include physical and emotional symptoms. Women often experience high levels of stress and anxiety, which negatively impact their sleep quality. This triggers poor sleep patterns in students, caused by a high bedtime procrastination. This study is aimed to influence of academic stress and bedtime procrastination on premenstrual syndrome among nursing students. This quantitative study used a descriptive correlational design with cross-sectional approach. The population in this study consists of 153 seventh-semester nursing students at Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto, with a sample of 66 respondents selected using stratified random sampling. The data analysis used was the Gamma correlation test. Based on the results of data analysis with the Gamma correlation test, academic stress showed a p-value = 0.003 (α < 0.05), with a correlation value = 0.552 indicating a positive correlation with moderate strength. Bedtime procrastination had a p-value = 0.015 (α < 0.05), with a correlation value = 0.431 indicating a positive correlation with moderate strength. The research results indicate that there is a relationship between academic stress and bedtime procrastination of premenstrual syndrome among nursing students at Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto. There is a relationship between academic stress and bedtime procrastination of premenstrual syndrome among nursing students.
